New Growth Expected for Electronics Manufacturing in 2014
2014 is just barely underway but we’re already seeing promising indicators for the year ahead for the electronics manufacturing industry.
A recent study of electronics industry sales trends filed by the IPC in December, 2013 reported that across the board--semiconductors, printed circuit board assembly and electronics manufacturing services--improvements were recorded over Fourth Quarter 2013, with a continuing slow but steady increase expected for 2014.
New opportunities for electronics manufacturers are also coming to light, as Medical OEMs look for new ways to keep profits in line in the highly regulated Medical Device industry. This industry alone is expected to reach $34.38 billion by 2019 (according to a Frost & Sullivan report published in May 2013). Many of these new opportunities will appear in medical electronic design engineering for FDA-approved medical devices.
Consumer electronics are also on the upswing, with trends at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (wrapping up last week) leaning to new smart devices and wearable technology. A new article published in Billboard Magazine this week reported the Consumer Electronics Association had predicted revenue from consumer electronics could grow to reach $208 billion in 2014.
All in all, signs of recovery and growth are in the air for electronic manufacturing services and that means we also expect to see growing competition in the year ahead as well. Here at ControlTek, that means we’ll continue to focus on on-time delivery for orders, delivered quality, and overall customer satisfaction for our electronic manufacturing partners across a wide range of growing industries.
It also means continuing dedication to company-wide efficiencies by way of our Lean Enterprise Journey, an ongoing path for ControlTek that allows us to promote a lean enterprise through employee training, ControlTek Kaizen events and CIT projects.
We are excited for a new year of new opportunities for our industry and for our customers!
