New Promotions For ControlTek Engineering Team
Nothing makes us happier than watching and supporting our team members as they work towards their professional goals. That’s why we are so excited to announce two recent promotions within our Engineering team. Please join us in congratulating Johnny Ung and Connor Niemi!
Design Engineer Johnny Ung
Johnny Ung has worked for Controltek for the past three years and was recently promoted to become our newest design engineer. In this new role, he will be primarily involved with product design, including electrical engineering, PCB layout and mechanical design, in particular for industrial and medical applications.
Johnny got his start as a test technician before moving on to become a test engineer two years ago. He gained invaluable knowledge about manufacturing by collaborating with design and manufacturing engineers. Johnny credits the teamwork and test engineering’s sharp focus on optimization of manufacturing and testing processes with giving him the skills to continue to advance his career.
“ControlTek makes a point of investing in its employees and its relationships, both internally and in the community,” Johnny said. “I appreciate the promotion and ControlTek’s commitment to its employees. This recognition of talent is another example of how ControlTek proactively applies expertise to solving problems.”
Test Engineer Connor Niemi
Graduating in 2016 from George Fox University with a degree in Computer Engineering, new test engineer Connor Niemi has always been drawn to the testing field. He got his start out of college at an engineering firm, where he assisted with validation testing before joining ControlTek two years ago as an engineering technician. As a technician, he was responsible for conducting a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical testing on products to ensure their functionality.
As a test engineer, he is now responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing test processes, methods, and systems. His goal as a test engineer is simple: work hard to find ways to make testing better, cheaper, and faster to implement.
Connor enjoys the hands-on opportunities available at ControlTek, where he gets to create functional test fixtures utilizing our in-house 3D printing and machining capabilities.
“The optimization of processes is very satisfying for me,” Connor told us. “And I like that a lot of what I do now makes life easier for the testing team.”
When asked about what he enjoys most at ControlTek, Connor didn’t hesitate to tell us it’s the friendly culture and willingness to jump in to help find solutions that he feels sets ControlTek apart.
“Everyone is involved, including management. And that makes it feel like we are all truly a team.”
